Ginger is one of the best antinauseants available.

In one clinical trial of pregnant women with severe nausea and vomiting, 250mg of powdered ginger root taken four times a day significantly reduced their discomfort (European Journal of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Biology, 1990, vol.38). A scientific review of the use of ginger as an antinausea remedy concluded it’s safe during pregnancy provided normal doses are consumed (HerbalGram, 1996, Vol 38).

What form of ginger should you take?

Choose from fresh, dried, encapsulated, powdered, tea or crystallized ginger. Crystallized ginger is quite pungent, and typically coated with sugar. If you are avoiding added sugars while pregnant, that may not be your first choice.

To make ginger tea, you can grate one to two teaspoon of fresh root into a cup of water, simmer for a few minutes, then add honey and lemon to the tea.

For convenience, many pregnant women choose the encapsulated ginger. It’s easy to take, can go with you anywhere and you have it at a moments notice.

Description: Ginger [Digestive] has been cultivated for thousands of years in China and India.

It was written about in many ancient Chinese herbal texts and is an ingredient in as many as half of all Chinese herbal combinations.

The Chinese use it to buffer the effects of stronger herbs, and they drink it widely in tea.

Ginger nutritionally supports the digestive process and has the ability to help settle occasional stomach upset and prevent motion sickness.

The root has a strong, sweet scent.

Each capsule from Natures Sunshine Ginger contains 500 mg ginger rhizome.

Adults: Take 1 capsule with a meal twice daily.
